It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website which has been developed to enhance our service delivery, provide up to date information about the association, community events, future initiatives and housing development. Since 2009 the Association has experienced a period of significant growth and change. As a result of a stock transfer from Glasgow Housing Association 525 tenants transferred to Cassiltoun HA. 94% of tenants who part in the ballot voted ‘YES’ to our transfer proposals. This indicated their support of a local community controlled based housing model. This was soon followed by over 100 factored owners who also voted to transfer their factoring management to Cassiltoun. We’re delighted to be offering owners a full property management service. The association is facing new challenges from April 2013; the first of these is the introduction of the so called “Bedroom Tax”. Cassiltoun has indentified 230 tenants who will be affected. Our Regeneration Manager and Welfare Benefits Expert, Clair Malpas, has led our strategy to support tenants. The other significant change for landlords like Cassiltoun HA is the introduction of the “Tenants Social Housing Charter”. The Charter is being introduced by the Scottish Government to help improve the quality and value of the services that landlords provide and supports the Scottish Government’s long term aim of creating a safer and stronger Scotland.Welcome To Cassiltoun Housing Association
If you are a tenant of Cassiltoun HA and worried about the changes being introduced by welfare reform, contact our office and arrange to speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.
More information is available at both www.scotland.gov.uk & www.scottishhousingregulator.gov.uk.
We will provide more updates in our April 2013 newsletter which will be available to download on this website.
Cassiltoun will be involving tenants in setting locally agreed standards and also to help verify our level of performance. If you would like to join our focus group you can contact John Williams or Clare MacLean.
As the country faces the tough economic conditions which include huge changes to welfare reform, our role as a community anchor organisation has never been so important.
We are a Regeneration Organisation with a wealth of experience operating locally in Castlemilk that does more than housing. The information available on our website should demonstrate this. However, if you would like to discuss our work, please do not hesitate to contact us.
